We just spent a very fun week up in the Uintah's in an area called Soapstone. We left on Monday morning with our friends Tammie and Jerry Peavler and with our daughter and her husband and kids. We had an amazing week filled with being lazy, card playing, fighting flies, fishing, atv's, naps and great conversation and great company. We were joined with others as the week went by. Tom and Marcine Sawyer and their girls Abbie and Sammy. Shannon and Wes, Jeremy and Chantille, Brandon and Erica, Sean and Tyson, Jim and Megan, Shane and Bonnie were all with us too. It was so nice to get away from the city life and enjoy the beautiful mountains and the cooler weather. It was great to spend time with family and friends.

out of the mouths of babes...
Makayla was sitting at the bar playing with the lego's and building a rocket. She said to me, "Grandma, I wish my dad could build a rocketship and fly us into space. We would see aliens there but not earth aliens. That would be cool! Right Grandma?"
A little too much help...
Yesterday Kaden was downstairs playing with his trains and watching Thomas while I was upstairs baking some cookies. Makayla went downstairs and a few seconds later I hear her yelling for me, "Grandma, hurry! Kaden is doing something really bad!" I dropped what I was doing and ran downstairs. Kaden was standing next to the fireplace with the ash shovel in his hands and the door to the fireplace open. He was taking the ashes out of the fireplace and scattering them on the floor all over. It was a huge mess! I couldn't even speak. I just took the shovel out of his hand and picked him up. He was covered with ashes himself. He started to cry. I sat him on the couch and began cleaning up the mess. I think I clogged up my vacuum with all the ashes. I wish I would have taken a picture of the mess and of Kaden but I was in shock! He's such a sweet little boy and really does like to help when he can. But help like that I can do without!
My pride and joy...
I took Makayla to the store last night and let her pick out a new bike for her 6th birthday. She was so excited! She pushed the bike all the way to the checkstands by herself and to the car also. This morning she put her helmet on and rode it for the first time. It's a little big for her but she will grow into it and someday we will take the training wheels off. I'm so proud of her! She is growing up so fast and learning many new things.

Trip With Devin
Wednesday, June 18, 2008
The Ashby family is enjoying the whole family being back together again after almost 4 years. Our son, Devin, just returned home from his mission to the New England states and Brandon, our oldest son, moved home for a short time from California. He will be moving back to Park City in the next couple of weeks. He works at the Olympic Park. It's so good having us all together again.
